This session is the result of a dream three friends had, living on opposite sides of the Atlantic, and turned out better than anyone expected. Drummer Jorg Schneider invited Przemyslaw Drazek and Brent Fuscaldo of the Chicago band Mako Sica to his studio in a remote part of West Germany. What you hear on The Black Sea part 1 is the trio's first meeting together, caught on analog tape. Hypnotic, Neu-like rhythms combine with exploratory nature of free jazz on a diverse batch of compositions, entirely improvised. Everything was recorded live, including the wordless vocals with just a PA monitor mic'd. The music's serpentine structures embody a calm all-knowingness with the unexpected sudden lashing out. This is only a portion of the entire session which garnered nearly four hours of music. The Black Sea part 2 was released on cassette by No Index Recordings and there's still much leftover in the archive. These first takes lead listeners through countless rooms of the musicians' imaginations and own moments of discovery.

A partir de quand a germé dans l'esprit de Earth l'idée d'un album dans le style de Hex; Or Printing In The Infernal Method ? Jordan Vauvert
The ambient composer creates pieces reminiscent of short stories by Breece D’J Pancake, assembling familiar sounds in ways that render them haunted and suddenly unfamiliar. Bandcamp Album of the Day Nov 8, 2023
